The Disadvantages of VoIP
The VoIP technology has numerous advantages over the regular telephone landline technology. Although this is still a technology, which can be described as relatively new and therefor it has many ground for improvements. This technology still has its downsides and disadvantages.
Sure you can probably make the cheapest calls to domestic and international destinations with VoIP compared to any other known telecommunication service. However, those calls simply won't happen if there is a power outage. The difference between normal telephone and VoIP phone is, that the normal phone receives power from the same landline cable from which it receives signal, too. Fortunately, most VoIP operators provide voice mail for the VoIP that you are using, so if there is a missed call during the power outage the missed call is recorded in the voice mail.
The same problem arises when there are network outages as well. In this day and age network outages are not happening very often, but they are still happening and this can be quite inconvinient. Sure, it is great that you can call Pakistan on the lowest calling rates available, but all this count for nothing when you cannot do it because of a network problem or outage.
Another major disadvantage of the VoIP technology is the quality of the calls that you make over the internet with this technology. In recent years this problem has been pretty much dealt with, but that doesn't mean that there are no problems involving the sound quality of the calls made through internet anymore. There are still problems with the speed of the internet connection with some networks no matter how fast they are. However, such problems are usually fixed by the VoIP providers, so when you are looking to hire company offer VoIP services, be sure that this provider has good customer support.
The VoIP technology allow the people using the technology to make cheap calls to Pakistan or other parts of the globe which is great. But, still, there are certain disadvantages to this technology. However the VoIP is continuing its development so this means that all the of the downsides and the disadvantages of the technology can be dealt with in the future.
