When I saw the publisher’s description for Starters by Lissa Price, I couldn’t resist. I’d been looking for a good dystopian novel and this sounded like a very different and interesting premise. Starters more than lived up to my expectations! I’ve since learned that it’s Book #1 of a series. It’s very complex and has more depth to it than a lot of YA novels. For that reason and others, I believe it will appeal to all ages.

Conflict on the Pacific Rim led to a very different kind of war, a biological war. The escalation in tensions was long enough that we knew it was coming, and vaccines were rapidly manufactured to protect from the spores the U.S. knew might be used.
