This paper doll is the shana, based on the light novel series “Shakugan no Shana”, the papercraft is created by WXY. Shana is a young girl with jet black hair which is almost as long as her entire body height. She also has dark brown pupils and a fair complexion. Because of the effects of being a Flame Haze, Shana’s body age remains to that of a girl of 13 to 14 years old. Upon invoking her powers as a Flame Haze, her hair and eyes change color to a fiery crimson, with embers fluttering from her head down.
Age: 13-14 (immortal)
Height: 146 cm
Weight: 37 kg
Weapon of Choice: Nietono No Shana
Contracted to: Alastor
In her first few years as a Flame Haze, she wears an all-black attire consisting of a shirt, pants and her Treasure Tool Yogasa in the form of a trench coat. However, after she decided to stay in Misaki City, she is most usually seen with the Misaki City Municipal High School uniform and when in combat, has the Yogasa as a cape worn over her clothes.
She is later seen wearing a red-and-black frilly dress on her stay inside the Seireiden. Initially, she is concentrated solely on her duty as a Flame Haze, not even considering getting a name as she didn’t see any importance having it. She sees Yuji only as a Torch, an object, albeit marginally interesting because of his status as a Mystes. However, she slowly opens up to Yuji, coming to think of him as a person despite being a Torch, and eventually comes to show affection to him. Her duty made her indifferent towards human life at first, but through Yuji’s influence, Shana has opened up slightly, although she still remains confused and disgruntled by some human traits which she considers as pointless, although some of it is used to mask her jealousy of her desired monopoly on Yuji.
Shana has a habit of saying “Urusai! Urusai! Urusai!” (“Shut up! Shut up! Shut up!”) whenever Yuji asks her questions or makes remarks that disturb her original worldview or embarrass her. But in reality they really care for each other. She has a great fondness for anything sweet, eventually putting melon bread above her preference.
Shana is shown to be highly intelligent as she has gotten a perfect score on every exam and is talented in Physical Education. She is shown, however, to be naive when it comes to social affairs, once even unabashfully asking “how babies are made” to Chigusa.
Known only as the “Flaming-Haired, Blazing-Eyed Hunter,” Shana bears no name until she meets Yuji, who names her after the sword she wields. As a “Flame Haze,” Shana is sworn to protect the balance of the world by hunting down the “Guze no Tomogara;” monsters from the “Crimson Realm” who come to earth in order to harvest the “Power of Existence” from its denizens. Together with Alastor, “Flame of the Heavens” and Shana’s guide who lives within her, and speaks to her through a necklace she wears, she has become one of the most powerful Flame Haze in existence.
Shana is said to be the most powerful, known and feared by most Crimson Denizens with her title alone. This has allowed her to defeat many powerful Denizens, and permits her many different abilities, including her proficiency with the Nietono no Shana, the ability to wield flames, manipulate the Power of Existence, harbor extrasensory traits, and fly with wings of flame. In the third volume of the manga, the first volume of the novel, and the movie, Alastor states that the reason why she did not explode after being shot by Friagne’s Trigger Happy was because she held a capacity that existed in dimensional space, who was able to contain the Flame of Heaven’s; He has thus stated her as “The Great One”.
Shakugan no Shana (aka Shana) is a Japanese light novel series written by Yashichiro Takahashi, with illustrations by Noizi Ito. ASCII Media Works published 25 novels from November 2002 to October 2011 under their Dengeki Bunko imprint. The story focuses on Yuji Sakai, a high school boy who inadvertently becomes involved in an age-old conflict between forces of balance and imbalance in existence. In the process, he befriends a fighter for the balancing force and names her “Shana”. The series incorporates fantasy and slice of life elements into its tale.
Shakugan no Shana details an age-old conflict between those who inhabit the Crimson Realm, a parallel universe to the human world. The Crimson Realm is populated by Crimson Denizens who are able to manipulate Power of Existence, a fundamental power within any biological entity and functions as “fuel” for one’s existence. Denizens whose power stands out among their peers are known as Lords of the Crimson Realm, and Lords that are even more powerful are known as Gods. Denizens who do not care about the balance between the Crimson Realm and the human world collect Power of Existence from humans to use for their own purposes. Some Lords contract with humans to become a Flame Haze, whose duty is to maintain the two world’s balance by destroying any Denizens disrupting it. Denizens and Flame Haze fight with the use of powerful magic spells called Powers of Unrestraint, also known as Unrestricted Spells or Unrestricted Methods. One such spell is the Seal, which creates a space where the Crimson Realm and the human world intermingle and time stops.
The story largely takes place in Misaki City in Japan and begins when high school student Yuji Sakai is thrown into the middle of this conflict and encounters a Flame Haze girl with flaming red eyes and hair dressed in all black wielding a katana. The girl informs him that the real Yuji died some time ago, and that he is a Torch, a temporary replacement entity for a human whose Power of Existence has been significantly depleted. In addition, Yuji is a special kind of Torch who can move within Seals known as a Mystes who contains a Treasure Tool, a magical object created by Denizens that can provide special abilities or even Powers of Unrestraint. Unfazed by his apparent death, Yuji befriends the girl and names her “Shana” after her sword. They later discover that the Treasure Tool within Yuji is the Reiji Maigo, which restores his Power of Existence every night at midnight.
As time goes on, Shana and Yuji encounter several more Flame Haze, such as Margery Daw and Wilhelmina Carmel, and Denizens in Misaki City. An organization of Denizens called Bal Masqué discovers that Yuji possesses the Reiji Maigo and attempt to use the Treasure Tool on two separate occasions. Bal Masqué is led by three Lords called the Trinity: Hecate, Sydonay, and Bel Peol. They serve under a Crimson God known as the Snake of the Festival, who resides within Reiji Maigo. When the Snake of the Festival emerges, it merges its consciousness with Yuji’s, assuming command over Bal Masqué, and together they formulate an elaborate plan to create a parallel world called Xanadu, which will serve as a paradise for Denizens with unlimited Power of Existence. Shana, and all of the other Flame Haze around the world, oppose the creation of Xanadu, which would eventually cause a large-scale disruption in the human world, the Crimson Realm and Xanadu itself.
Shana formulates a countermeasure and is ultimately successful in adding a single law to Xanadu where the Denizens are not allowed to eat humans anymore. With Xanadu created, the Denizens depart to the new world, soon followed by hundreds of Flame Haze determined to help enforce order on it. Yuji intends to go to Xanadu alone and make sure humans and Denizens can eventually learn to coexist, but Shana refuses to be left behind. In the end, Yuji accepts Shana’s feelings and the two kiss, which activates a spell left to Yuji by Crimson Lord Lamia that restores his existence, so Yuji is no longer a Torch. With the help of another spell from Lamia, Yuji successfully restores all humans in Misaki City whose existence was absorbed by the Denizens before he and Shana depart for Xanadu together.
