When it comes to selecting a real estate agent, there are certain aspects you want to look out for. After all, the idea is for a real estate agent to help you to sell your home, or to rent it out to suitable tenants. Regardless of which of these two scenarios applies to you, it is natural to expect that you will want to have an agent that performs well, has a great attitude, and is knowledgeable in the market  place, with property trends, as they vary over time. A good agent will always be better than trying to sell or rent a property yourself, as they will have the knowledge that can be the difference between an average price and a great price.

When I talk about performance, I am referring to the best price you receive for your home, as well as the rental return if you are a landlord. Naturally, performance also encompasses a host of other traits like integrity, quality of service, knowledge in the market place and an ability to put your mind at ease, knowing your major asset is being well looked after or managed.

However, special mention should be made about attitude as well. Attitude is more than just a smile and friendly hello. There are some agents that are just happy to do the least amount of work possible, who may even get away with it when they are working in a buoyant market. However, the agents with great attitude will always strive to go the extra mile. It may be to help a tenant resolve a problem, or for an owner to know they can ask a question when they are unsure about an aspect of a sale. It can also make a difference if there is a dispute to resolve. A great real estate agent will handle the issues with sensitivity and  professionalism at all times, to assist all parties.

Finally, knowledge is very important too. An agent that knows the market place will be able to command a higher price, or to find the right buyer for a property, as well as know when they can adjust rentals to yield the best results for the owner as well.

Overall, a good agent will help you manage the sale or rental of your property and make what can be a stressful experience, a much smoother and painless experience.
