Revamping Kurt's Cobain?

There is much buzz circulating about Universal Pictures creating a biopic of the legendary Kurt Cobain. To legitimize the project, the always controversial Courtney Love (who just so happens to be Cobain's widow and the mother of his only child, Frances Bean) is said to be playing a major role in production. She gets to choose the music, main cast, even the director! And speaking of the cast, the actor rumored to be up for the task of portraying Kurt, is none other than ...Robert Pattison. Yep you read that right, according the the UK Sun, an insider named the twilight star as Courtney's number one choice. Really Courtney? Really? I'm a HUGE Nirvana fan and perhaps an even BIGGER fan of Kurt's though I never met the man, never got to go to one of his concerts, though he died when I was about 4 years old - I was raised in a culture saturated by his influence! I grew to love the things Cobain stood for, the originality in his personal sense of style, and the energy he put into every song. Aside from that I admired how down to earth he came across. I mean whether it be in interviews or recordings of live performances, Kurt always seemed like such a person. And he publicly struggled with his own demons, the way we all struggle privately with ours. This puts him beyond superstardom in my mind. Whenever I'm feeling exceptionally happy or sad, angry or anywhere in between, there are only two singers I feel like really get me. One of them is Morrissey and the other is Kurt. I know millions of Nirvana fans all over the world probably feel the exact same way. With all due respect to Courtney (God knows I loved Hole and think she's a legend in her own right), I just don't see any way in hell Mr. Pattinson could convincingly characterize Kurt. Physical resemblance aside, he just doesn't seem to have what it takes. My bet is if Universal Pictures finalizes Pattison as Cobain, they just might end up being All Apologies.
