REMODELING YOUR CLOSET

If your closet is getting too small for your clothes and accessories you have two options, to buy a bigger wardrobe or the remodel your current one. Read on for learning some useful tips and tricks on how to renovate your old closet efficiently.

Begin by removing the current shelves and supports, leave only the bare box. This will eliminate some scraping and sanding that will be needed during the remodeling process. Buy some new paint and choose a color that matches the room’s interior design. To remove the old pain and align any dents, use sand paper. You can either sand paper via a rotary sand papering device or by hand. When done fill any holes and apply the primer coat. Then sand again and apply at least two coats of base paint.

The next step is to install some supports for the new shelves. Use construction glue or screws to mount the one-by-twos. If the closet is wooden, drill some pilot holes to avoid the wood splitting during the screwing of the screws.

To know what kind of wood to buy from the lumberyard or hardware store, consult with a carpenter. Most professionals will advise you to go with oak or maple, as the wood is very resistant. It may cost a bit more, but you will be getting some top notch shelves for the long run. Most home depots will cut the wood material for you. Once you have purchased the shelves, paint them, and let dry. Once they are dry put the shelves on the supports and enjoy your new closet.

When you are done with the remodeling, before putting back your cloths in the closet, contact a cleaning company to come and thoroughly clean the closet and the room you have worked in. It is for the best if you hire a local cleaning firm. For example if you are living in the Kensigton region, hire cleaners Kensigton based that have been referred to you by your neighbors. This way you will know that you are hiring the best firm that is cleaning Kensigton area.
