Punctuality Necessary or Overrated?

“I am late.. I late … I late,” says the “white rabbit” from Alice in Wonderland. Remember he ran past every body with this watch in hand expressing how late he was. I don’t think he even knew what he was late for. The tea party with the mad hatter maybe? I’ve been the “white rabbit” before rushing around, fumbling with make-up, keys and children (5), with one goal in mind arriving on time!
Punctuality for me is important, and the few times I have been late I was overly apologetic, and it was hard to shake that feeling I had wasted the person’s time. I’d be the first to admit that when someone is late for a meeting with me, I am a tad bit annoyed. I understand things happen, and life doesn’t always work with us. But . . . please remember that there are common curiosity measures to be taken when you’re running late, call ahead, reschedule (if you’re to late) and apologizing when you arrive for your tardiness.
Punctuality isn’t overrated and is necessary, when it involves another person’s valuable time.
But . . . there are also times when it’s almost standard to be late. Things like your own wedding and social gatherings, these events almost no one wants to be the first to arrive. It’s odd how that works huh? Yes, I was joking about being late for your own wedding!
Below are a few quotes on “Punctuality”
Punctuality is the thief of time ~ Oscar Wilde
You may delay, but time will not. ~ Benjamin Franklin
Punctuality is the politeness of kings. ~ Louis XVIII of France
