Professional Golf: Is it for you?

As every golf traveler knows, enjoying golf vacations in Arizona is pretty sweet. Hotel resorts in AZ offer complete amenities for a great golf holiday, plus most Arizona golf resorts offer vacation packages that your wallet absolutely loves.

A golf vacation is one of the best things in life. But have you ever thought how more awesome everything will be if you can earn a living playing golf? Being a professional golfer has a lot of perks, but not everyone has what it takes to take on the pro golfer’s life.

First of all, turning pro takes a lot of time and effort. Even if you have an impressive handicap, you have to go through a process to earn your PGA card. There are several routes you can take to turn pro. But the first step is to register with the PGA to begin your qualifying process. Approximately only one percent of those who register per year earn a PGA Tour card, so the competition is really stiff. You have to be patient and really determined to reach your goals.

Money is also a factor. Joining the PGA Tour can be expensive. It can cost you around 30,000 to 50,000 each year. Your expenses include tournament entry fees, travel and living expenses, coach and trainer’s fee, plus golf equipment. Having a financial backer or sponsor will be easier for you to finance yourself while you are on tour. But getting a sponsor can also be challenging, you have to present a business plan on how you can make investing in you profitable for them. You have to know how to present an impressive business plan and you need confidence to approach sponsors for help. You also have to get used to rejection because you will encounter them frequently once you turn pro.

Lastly, you have to be sure that you are ready to take the plunge into professional golf. You can enroll in PGA qualifying school to learn everything about being a professional golfer. Aside from golf training, you will also learn about business management, equipment technology and the different careers you can have while being a pro golfer. Preparing to turn pro usually takes two to three years, but there is really no time frame. If you think you are not ready, then do not force yourself. It is better to wait until you are absolutely ready.

Being a professional golfer seems very glamorous, but it also entails a lot of sacrifices and hard work. It is not for everyone and if you would rather enjoy golf vacations in Arizona, then the Arizona hotel resorts will surely love to have you.
