I have always been known as a plump girl. Even though I never considered myself as overweight, somehow my height and weight never complimented each other. To add to this not-so-proportionate look was my bulging belly. As I grew up, I realized I am not as in shape as I used to think. At 5'5, I weighed around 143 lbs (65 kg). So I decided that it is time for me to hit the gym.
The moment I decided to lose weight, number of options came to mind. I could opt for yoga, gym, swimming or even dance to achieve a toned body and flat belly. But I decided to go for gym because I wanted to work out rigorously under professional guidance. I appointed a physical trainer as well as a dietitian and thus started my exercise regime! The initial few days, we worked on increasing my stamina. That means I had to run on the treadmill for at least 15 minutes everyday. Other cardio exercises like cycling and elliptical machines were also a part of my routine work out.
Next in line were the resistance training equipments. The heavy weights really helped me with losing some of the stubborn stored fat. I could feel by the second week itself that my clothes were a little lose. My trainer had set a weekly routine for me in which we worked on stamina, abs, upper body and lower body day by day. Simultaneously I followed a well balanced diet which was chalked out by the nutrition and diet expert. Food items like muesli, oatmeal, fibrous fruits, lean meat, egg whites, salads, and sprouts became a regular part of my meals. I realized that eating breakfast was working very well for my metabolism.
After the rigorous exercise and dieting routine, I lost 15 lbs (7 kg) in couple of months. I feel great with my toned physique although I am still trying for more belly fat reduction to get flat stomach and thin waist.
