Illegal drug use is a huge burden on society.  It impacts many of the other issues facing the nation; crime, health care, poverty, foreign policy and the economy.  It also hurts families.

The war on drugs is failing.  It is costing the nation over $15 billion annually in direct costs; then there are the indirect costs of additional health care and prisons.

The nation would be much improved by the elimination of illegal drug use.

To do this, a different approach is needed.
