Internet Marketing Tip - Own Your Affliction?

Own your affliction? What the hell does that mean? Here is a great internet marketing tip that anyone and everyone should be using, whether it's in internet marketing, or in everyday life.
If you have an 'affliction', that you know everyone sees first when they look at you, take it away from them by owning it. This is especially important in internet marketing, and more specifically video marketing.
This affliction doesn't even have to be something physical about you. It can be something that is going on in the video that you had no control of.
Let's say you were making a video about how to do JV partnerships. You were walking down the street while talking and you had a family member taping for you.
When you review the video, you notice your video person is breathing hard and becomes distracting for a few seconds on the tape. Instead of redoing it, I recommend keeping it and acknowledge it with an annotation. Make a joke about it.
Why would you do this? Quite simply, it cuts you down. It keeps you from ever looking as if you are a know it all, or someone who feels they are on a different level. You quickly bring yourself down the viewer and RELATE to them. If you don't relate to the viewer, it is extremely hard to sell them anything.
The other thing it does is express your personality. People like to share videos of interesting people. How many times have you related to, or shared a video with a boring person just reciting information?
These two reasons for keeping 'afflictions' falls under one word. It is one of the biggest things in internet marketing, and can be considered the best internet marketing tip you can receive. These things allow you to BRAND yourself.
There are millions of videos with people talking over screenshots, or headshots of people blathering away. Very few of these videos help you relate to people.

Make an 'affliction'. Add something to your video that allows your viewer to relate to you. Poke fun at your accent, whatever. Here is an example of a video I did on the importance of being yourself.

You don't have to be fake. Just quickly bring down the wall of 'serious information', with some levity perhaps. People are inundated with serious information. Give them the content, just deliver it in a more original way.
