How to Make Your Own iPhone Ringtone

You know you want to!

The ring tones that come with the iPhone are pretty limited.  Here is an easy way to make your own.....

For simplicity lets say you want to first 28 seconds of a song.

  • From within iTunes, right click on the song and choose 'Get Info'.

  •
  • Go to the options tab and check the "Start" and "Stop" times for the song. i.e. "0:00" and "0:28"

  •
  • Now right click and "convert to AAC" (it will create a 28 second AAC file)

  •
  • Select the 28 second version and right click and select "Show in Explorer/Finder"

  •
  • Move this file to another folder.

  •
  • You can now delete the item from the iTunes list (since the original file is moved it will just delete the entry in iTunes).

  •
  • Rename the file with a .m4r extension.

  •
  • Drag that file into iTunes. it will automatically put it in the ring tone playlist.

  •
  • Then just sync - and the ringt one will show up as a custom tone.

  • There you go! Enjoy!
