How Subscription Based Email Marketing Helps
Email Marketing Keeps Customers Coming Back
If you're not using subsciption (opt-in) email marketing, you are missing out on A LOT of business and you are letting A LOT of your traffic that you worked hard for GO TO WASTE!
It's likely that visitors to your site might not take action that puts money in your pocket on their first visit. Therefore you have to do everything you can to get them to come back again.
A method of getting customers to come back is by getting them to opt-in for your newsletter or other email that you offer. By sending them emails, you are nurturing your relationship with the customer. Your website is going to be in their head and they are becoming more aware of what your website offers. Even if they don't take action after the first email you send them, you will be in their mind when they need something you offer and they will likely visit your site.
It is also free advertising! When you send out your newsletter, there is a chance they will foward the email to their friends, allowing you to get your website infront of more people! Just make sure your newsletter/email is worth fowarding.
Increase the number of Opt-ins
If you already have a newsletter, but do not have a large percentage of visitors signing up for it, you may have to offer them a better incentive. Just being kept up to date with your news and promotions may not be enough incentive for them.
A popular and effective incentive is to use free travel such as a 2-Night Hotel Stay. You can get set up in a travel incentive program here. What you can then do is put a banner on the confirmation page that shows up after they sign up for your newsletter, that they can click to claim their free travel. What I like to do is email them their free travel certificate after they sign up, this way they have to give the correct email or they won't get the incentive.
Another reason your percentage of opt-ins might be low is that you are asking too much information of them. Most web surfers are hesitant to give up their information, so if you're asking for thei full name and zip code and email and favorite color and whatever else, it might prevent them from signing up. Only ask what is absolutely necessary! Pretty much an email address is enough. I also like getting their first name, so that the newsletter I send can be personalized, but that's it.
