Having 2 Phones in 1

Me and my family were at SM Marikina last Sunday checking out phones, gadgets and other stuff. We noticed that My|Phone was having a sale!

My|Phone is an original Filipino brand of mobile phones known for their dual sim card feature. They also introduced the Filipino version of qwerty phones (weigh, weigh different from China phones sold in flea markets).

Anyway, the price of one item caught my parents' attention so we decided to check it out. It's a My|Phone Q19i Duo with a price of Php 1,599 (about $ 35). I was skeptical at first because its features and specifications were similar to popular cellphone models with prices ranging from Php 17,000 ($ 377) to Php 22,000 ($ 488).

So I tested the phone.
I was impressed! For such an affordable price, it has so many features such as:

Dual sim card capability Qwerty keypad Built in camera MP3 player, Sound recorder and Stereo FM radio Built in Facebook (WAP), Twitter (WAP) and MSN support on the main menu Games and Applications Card slot for micro SD up to 4GB (micro SD card sold separately)

On the other hand, the Q19i unit lacks some features like Blutooth, Wifi and the capability of using a USB cable for file transfer from a computer to phone, unlike the higher like the TW1 Duo or the QW29 Duo.
So, when I plugged the USB cable on both ends (phone and PC), all the phone did was charge its batteries. That means still I need a micro SD memory card and a card reader for transferring my photos and music from my laptop to my|phone.

Aside from that, I have read some negative comments about this unit from different sources. Mostly about not being user friendly. Well, in my opinion, it really depends on the user because if you don't know how to use or take care of a device, it's not the device manufacturer's fault. And besides, the specifications are written clearly on the box. So if a feature is not indicated in the specs, don't expect too much, especially from an incredibly low-priced phone.

But overall, there's not much to complain about because I'm happy with my new phone. I really don't need Wifi because I have a laptop to take care of that, and I also don't need Blutooth because I really don't share files with others via cellphone. Besides, I can still browse the internet on my new phone for Php 10/30 minutes via GPRS from my network provider, Sun Cellular . . . and FREE FACEBOOK even if I don't have load!

Some high-end mobile phone brands already released new models with dual sim card capability, like the Samsung Champ Duos E2652, but I still chose My|Phone, simply because it's original, Filipino-made, durable, has similar features with the most popular brands of phones, and most of all . . . it's relatively cheap. ^_^

What's the model of your cellphone? How many cellphones do you have?
