I received the following alarming report from a friend who works at a hedge fund, a report quoting Russian scientists who have visited the site of BP's Gulf oil disaster.  The dire conclusion is that the oil spill is significantly worse than anything being portrayed in the media, by government and BP, with 18 other sites leaking on the fractured sea floor.

Matt Simmons, a prominent oil industry insider and peak oil proponent has been far out on this issue - for several weeks he has stated that the government needs to use a nuclear explosion to collapse the sea floor around the leak(s).  He also believes BP will declare bankruptcy by the end of the summer because the Gulf oil disaster is significantly worse than what is being discussed.  If all this is true, then what is happening on the sea floor is getting worse, not better as is the current public story theme.

Yet, the article below remains incomplete.  While it quotes Simmons and Russian scientists who are advocates of using a nuclear explosion to seal the leak, what is unclear is whether they advocate multiple nuclear detonations, since there may be multiple leaks far apart.  The article below also raises the issue of what information is BP and the government holding back and why?  Why have Russian scientists been the only ones who have apparently been below the sea floor to visit and inspect the leak? Does the Kremlin have better information than the public about the disaster unfolding on the Gulf of Mexico sea floor?

It is déjà vu all over again - the public and media are failing to demand and receive all the answers.
