Once again, it’s been quite a while. I’m so bad with consistency.
I had to work until 11:30 PM on New Year’s Eve, but I rang in the New Year with a free Lumberjunk show downtown. They’re a local band and very, very good! My cousin Darius is their bassist, and the front man Matt Weidinger is absolutely incredible. His organ skills enable him to bring back some of the ‘60s classics that are often omitted. They played many of their greats including World Out There and some classic covers including one of my all-time favourites, the Spencer Davis Group’s Gimme Some Lovin'. I tried to get some video, but I was standing too close to a speaker and it unfortunately came out distorted. I did manage to salvage a few stills.
Were you there? If so, tell me about it! Share some pictures/videos, even!
In stabbier news, I'm going to be unemployed next month, thanks to good ol' outsourcing. I work for an evil corporation which would prefer to pay workers in the Philippines considerably less. The bright side? There's now a chance I'll find a job with better hours which will allow me to work on my passion on a non-antisocial level. I've been invited to so many open mic nights and the like, but I've always had to turn them down due to remaining stuck with such a late work schedule.
Speaking of which, I took some of that negative energy and did a little recording. This is another cover; Add It Up by the Violent Femmes. My little Behringer keeps me out of trouble, at least.

I don't know if it actually means anything, but apparently I rank #7 on the ReverbNation Rock Charts for Kitchener, ON right now. Not too bad for an amateur who hasn't had a gig!
