There’s one in every bunch.  In a marching band there might be a trumpet player that can hit all the high notes.  In a choir there might be a soprano who gets to sing every descant and solo.  In soccer there are players that are on the field for the entire game and never spend any time on the bench.  They are all “stars”.  Some of them appear desperate for attention and they usually get it.  But without the rest of the band/choir/team they wouldn’t be able to shine.  While any chain is only as strong as its weakest link, the strong links are still only links.

I’m tired of hearing about Tim Tebow.  The most-talked about quarterback in the National Football League, was drafted by the Denver Broncos as the 25th overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft.  His unusual approach to the game and his overtly religious expressions have attracted praise, criticism and attention from the sporting world and beyond.

Tebowing (verb): to get down on a knee and start praying, even if everyone else around you is doing something completely different.

In fact, the term “Tebowing” has recently been acknowledged as a part of the English language.  The Global Language Monitor recognizes new words when they meet the criteria of a minimum number of appearances in the English-speaking world, appearances on the Internet, in social media and in top global print and electronic media.  Tebowing went viral with the help of its own website.

So, yeah … he’s a good football player, he’s a Christian and he’s easy on the eyes.  So are most of the other players on his team.  So are most of the other players in the NFL.  What makes him different appears to be his desire for notoriety.  He's all over the news headlines and most of the stories have nothing to do with football.  Kids are getting suspended for "Tebowing" in school, pro-choice fundraisers are cashing in on his fame, he reveals his pop culture favorites and  his official website even offers desktop background photos that you can download so you can look at him every time you use your computer.  He’s like a Kardashian that can throw far.
