Internet Search and Internet Research is my main occupation and is what my website is all about. When I started my first Internet Business back in 1994, call, "Computer Cottage Company" C.C.C; the Internet was brand new,fresh and very simple with very little detail, without corruption. But because it was base on the computer and database formats, things soon change and I mean very FAST! The very first search engines online were, Netscape, Google and Yahoo, they had fresh new information to manage and control but that was went the problems started! People and companies begin building million of website all over the Internet because it was the "New Market Place and Communicate Tools" for all to get access and the "Gold Rush" was on! The search engines were quickly overload with new information from all over the world; beginning with website address or URL( Universal Resource Located) and all hell broke loss because everyone wanted their website to be "rank" at the top of the search engines listing. So some people got real smart and put keywords like "Sex" which is a major indexing keyword; human nature at it worst and the search engines "Wars" was on! . What a mess this kind of thinking had on all major search engines, Google was the first one to control this kind of behavior and that is the reason Google is king of the search engines and will always be king. To search key words or phrases on the Internet you will find (3)three types of search engines ranking systems;(1.)Search base on "popularity of the number of pages links from that website", ie;Google, (2.) Search base on the number "Subject-related-pages linked from that website", ie;Ask.com and (3.) Search base on "Relevancy (occurrence of term)",ie;Yahoo.com from that website. Also you have Meta (many) online search engines that will search "many search engines" at once; these types of search engines are great for Deep Internet Research and Comparison Research of information from more then one source.
There are also Offline Search Software Tools that also use "Meta Search" techniques; the product I use is Copernic Agent Personal, it not only do meta searches of the top search engines but also many online "Subject Directories" like, computer and Internet,Encyclopedia and Reference directories. You can save the results to your computer as a HTML page to be use later as a web page for your website. As you can see because of the size and the amount of Internet Information you will have to have many types of search tool (online/Offline) to get the job done.
