The college football week one schedule is loaded with great games and the marquee game may be the title between Alabama vs. Michigan, but there are other games that will be worth the watch. This includes the Friday night game that pits the Boise State Broncos vs. Michigan State Spartans.
The football betting odds for this game can be found at online sportsbook BetOnline. The Spartans are listed as (-7) point favorites over Boise State with the over/under set at 52.
Boise State has been a national title contender for the last few years as they have put together one of the most talented groups in the country every season. This year is going to be much different however as the Broncos had an incredible turnover.
After the Broncos lost center Cory Yriarte to a season-ending knee injury, it left just five returning starters from a year ago. This included losing many key players in vital positions like Kellen Moore, Doug Martin, and Tyler Shoemaker. The Broncos have won more games (118) than any team in the country over the past 10 years, but they will have to adjust fast if they want it to continue in the future. Don’t feel bad for the Broncos however, they are still favored to win the MWC and they have a slew of talent waiting to step up this season.
Michigan State returns just a total of 14 starters from a year and will also have to replace some key players from a year ago. It all starts with junior quarterback Andrew Maxwell, who will look to replace Kirk Cousins under center.
Spartans coach Mark Dantonio is doing a fantastic job of getting his team ready to prepare for a tough season with a grueling training camp that demands perfection.[poll id="14"]
Boise State just has too much going against them in the opener.
It's Boise State's first true road opener in seven years, and the head coach knows it will be a true challenge.
"It'll be the most challenging opening that we've ever had since I've been there for sure," Boise State coach Chris Petersen told 102.3 ESPN in Denver. The atmosphere and the inexperience will get to the Broncos.
The Spartans are 5-1 against the spread (ATS) in the last six home games and 5-0 ATS in the last five games overall. The Broncos are 1-6 ATS in the last seven games overall dating back to last year and that trend will continue in the opening game against the Spartans.
