Clean Your Carpet with Ammonia and Vinegar

Dirt and stains can turn a spotless carpet into a grimy mess, ruining the whole appearance of a room. Many different commercial carpet cleaning products are available on the market, but they can be expensive and may not always work as we have expected. Fortunately, there are some simple cleaning solutions involving ammonia and vinegar, that can remove a variety of stains and restore your carpet's look without the need of using professional cleaning services.
Ammonia Solution

  • Vacuum up loose dirt, dust, and other debris from the carpet before cleaning it.
  • Mix together a cup of ammonia and ½ gallon of warm water in a bowl using a spoon to stir.
  • Dip a sponge in the mixture and squeeze the excess moisture out of the sponge.
  • Blot the stains with the sponge, starting from the bound of the stain towards its middle, as advised by cleaners Collier's Wood.
  • Wait for the carpet to dry, and repeat the process if the stains remain.
  • Vinegar Solution

  • Vacuum the carpet to get rid of loose dirt, dust and other debris.
  • Add ½ cup of white vinegar and 2 tablespoons of salt to a small container, then mix the ingredients thoroughly.
  • Dip a sponge into the mixture and lightly rub the stains with the sponge.
  • After the carpet is completely dry, vacuum up the salt residue and repeat the process if needed.
  • Vinegar and Ammonia Solution

  • Vacuum any loose dirt, dust and other debris off the carpet before cleaning it.
  • Make a vinegar solution, combining 1 part of white vinegar and 5 parts of warm water in a spray bottle. Into another spray bottle, combine 1 part of ammonia and 5 parts of warm water.
  • Spray the carpet stain with the vinegar solution and leave it to soak for around 4 minutes. Use a clean cloth to remove the excess liquid, then apply the ammonia solution.
  • Blot up the excess liquid from the carpet, and repeat the process until all of the stain is gone.
  • If the stain remains after you have applied all cleaning techniques you know, consider consulting professional carpet cleaning company, such as cleaners Brockley, or hire them to get your carpet stain free for you.
