Breville Elite Juice Extractor or Breville Ikon Juice Extractor?
I juiced on and off for about 10 years. Over the years I have used cheap Breville BJE510XL Ikon 900-Watt Variable-Speed Juice Extractor from Wal-Mart. My wife has decided that we should buckle up and get more aggressive and engaged with our pressing, so we bought this Breville juicer. I was floored when I unpacked it. Compared to our old juicer white plastic, this is rock solid and very attractive. The old one was stained and tired.
In terms of performance, this is light years ahead and well worth the extra money. With my juicer Wal-Mart, I had to cut a carrot in two or three pieces. The Breville, I can put one or two large carrots or several small carrots in mouth of Ikon! I can also juice an entire medium-sized apple, bundle of celery, sweet potatoes or sugar beet. My old juicer would get bogged down like carrots hit his pale, but the Ikon just breaks whatever I throw at it.
In terms of quality, the juice concoctions that I created delicious taste. The juice is lively and a deep color and rich. There is no pulp in juice from Ikon, but old juicer Wal-Mart product pulpy juice. The flesh is very dry compared to my old juicer.
Clean up is easy enough and I can get the Breville cleaned and reassembled into two or three minutes. All it takes is a little bit of SOAP and water in the sink and a brush. Start washing parts in order reassembly and put them back on the juicer as I get them clean. If I'm busy, throwing only the parts in the dishwasher.
If you are new to juicing and buy this ikon bje510xl wonderful tool, check out videos on youtube. You can find several that have great recipes and ideas. I'm a fanatic of carrot juice, but they expanded and can swear mixtures as carrot/celery and apple yam//beet & celery.
With this new juicer, my sporadic use turned into use fanatic and do a sort of juice about twice a day. I felt great and have energy. I have been contemplating a juice fast, but we'll see ...
