The following British Petroleum (BP) and New York Times pieces are timely and reflect the chasm Peak Oil proponents have yet to bridge to convince the so called mainstream.
BP Statistical Review of World Energy
Imagining Life Without Oil, And Being Read by John Leland
BP's continued Peak Oil denial is galling for it completely avoids addressing the recent U.K. Industry Task Force on Peak Oil and Energy Security, a report sponsored by no less than six British corporations, including Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Group.
And the New York Times' piece is, frankly, offensive. It treats Peak Oil proponents as cute tin foil hat theorists. It cannot be considered a serious piece of journalism when it mocks it subject matter in the face of overwhelming evidence that it chooses not to address. Had the NY Times taken a more analytical look at Peak Oil, it might have been considered a groundbreaking piece of mainstream journalism in view of the BP gulf oil disaster.
