2. Other fast growing jobs for high school grads include carpenters, plumbers and stonemasons. For these, search your area for a trade or apprentice school (some are part of community colleges).
One career, however that does require a four-year degree is biomedical engineering, which is the third fastest growing. It is estimated to increase 61.7 percent and has an average salary of $81,540.
