How do Berkey water filter systems compare to those that use reverse osmosis? Well we can answer this question quite easily. First we have to look at what water is designed to do in the first place and then understand why reverse osmosis water is not good. Water is not just for the purpose of hydrating you, but it also contains minerals that your body needs. When you do not get these minerals your body can suffer in certain ways. A lot of people currently use reverse osmosis systems, and they do not know they are putting themselves at risk.

A lot of research has been done on whether reverse osmosis water is safe to drink. As far as pollutants, bacteria, and other harmful things go, it is safe. The biggest issue with this type of water is that in the process of getting rid of all the bad things inside of it, all of the good minerals are removed as well. Experts have said that it is not a good idea to drink reverse osmosis water, at least not on a long term basis. Why you might ask? Well if you keep on drinking water that has all of the beneficial minerals removed, you are basically drinking water that is acidic.

The acidic water reacts to your body a certain way. It will remove minerals from bones and other areas and flush it out of you. In addition, you have no idea how this might affect you long term. Right now you might be paying for reverse osmosis water. You might believe it is a superior solution, but the reality is t hat it is not. It just does not compare to what you would get if you were to decide to use Berkey water filtration systems instead

With Berkey water filtration systems, you will not have to worry about all of the beneficial minerals being removed just to give you pure water, not to mention the Berkey Water special offers. These systems will get rid of all the harmful, heavy metals though such as lead and mercury. It will also get rid of minerals that are sedimentary such as iron oxide.

Reverse osmosis systems are also going to cost you the most money when it comes to upfront cost. You will also have to pay a lot of money in order to have the system plumbed in.

The bottom line is that Berkey water filtration systems are safer for you in the end, and reverse osmosis systems are not. There have been many studies done that prove the water is just not good to consume long term. Because reverse osmosis water does not have any minerals inside of it, when you drink it for a long time you are increasing your chances of getting various degenerative diseases such as osteoporosis. You do not want that do you? So if you are currently using such a system, it would be a good idea to stop.

Berkey systems just offer a superior solution when it comes to getting not only pure water, but water with the needed minerals you should be getting.
