Banksy Hits the Spot

He’s been a little quiet recently but the street artist known as Banksy comes up with the goods once again with this stencil located in Poplar, a neighbourhood in East London close to London’s ravenous international banking sector.
Perfectly placed in the shadows of Canary Wharf, Banksy provides some free ‘anti-public relations’ for the shadowy dictators of the western world. It should be noted that the Olympics will be coming to this part of town next year, into which millions of pounds are being directed in the name of regeneration. A perverse reality where community leisure centre services are being closed while state of the art sports venues are being built for a month long festival of glorified, some would say steroid-powered, running and jumping.
The eyes of the world will be focused on London in 2012, providing a perfect setting for the capital city’s street artists to share their subversive constructs with everyone.
