An important factor that could make or break the self-esteem of a person is their weight. For most people, their weight issues are sensitive topics that are often avoided. Having too little or too much of something may result to many health problems which are also seen in issues regarding weight. Maintaining the ideal body weight may prove to be a difficult task when a person has had already developed certain eating habits that could make them eat excessively or scarcely. Antidepressants are now being used for treatment of eating disorders but they were found to have high risks of learning disability cause for a Zoloft lawsuit

Recovery rate from eating disorders is low and it is often seen in women, according to the South Carolina Department of Mental Health. Prozac, Paxil and Zoloft are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), a type of antidepressants that may also be for people with eating disorders. Either starving or consuming large amounts of food remain ther few choices they have because they do not feel good about themselves. Everytime they feel emotional, food would either become their point of comfort or distress.

The loss of appetite and diarrhea often befall on most people who are taking SSRIs nowadays. Loss of appetite happens to 11 percent of antidepressant users while 24 percent experience diarrhea. Zoloft users have complained of many other symptoms and these are only a few of them. These two side effects may worsen the case of people with anorexia nervosa since it can aggravate their weight problems. It may become a problem for men and women who tolerate such conditions if they use this medication. Losing weight may come as a blessing for those who do not have anorexia.

Although some individuals experience weight loss as they use Zoloft, others say that they felt the opposite. Each person has a different reaction to antidepressants and may have gained weight while using it. Some of them may decide to quit using the drug before it adds them more pounds because the weight they gained is difficult to lose. SSRIs are still being studied to know more about their full effects. The use of Zoloft during pregnancy  has been linked to Zoloft birth defects.
