Andy Dalton with the Flu, but expected to practice Thursday

Martin Lewis the coach of the Cincinatti Bengals is preparing his team for the next match against the Houston Texans and the Health of Andy Dalton remains a chief concern.

The Bengals rookie starting quarterback was taken to the hospital Wednesday night with flu-like symptoms after missing a practice, Lewis said thursday morning on Sirius XM radio.

Martin painted a picture of his quarterback losing sleep and staying close to the toilet and sink, but said he expects Dalton to return practice and get it going again, Lewis said. Dalton is expected to play saturday at Houston's Reliant Stadium, where he has never lost . The second-round draft pick grew up in the Houston suburbs and played 2 games at the stadium in high school and another for TCU.

The Cincinatti Bengals (9-7) will try to score their first okayoff win since the 1990 season when they face the Houston Texans (10-6), Reliant Stadium has a retractable roof, so weather won't be an issue for this match.

More info about Andy Dalton

Andrew Gregory Dalton (born October 29, 1987) is an American football quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals of the National Football League. He played college football at Texas Christian University. In his final college game, the 2011 Rose Bowl versus the Wisconsin Badgers, Dalton led the Horned Frogs to a 21-19 win over the three point underdog Badgers. He left the TCU program as its all-time leader in wins and many statistical passing categories.

Some draft experts felt that while Dalton's accuracy as a passer, his above average mobility, and his ability to throw on the run were his high points, his lack of a strong throwing arm was a detriment. He was selected by the Bengals in the second round (thirty-fifth overall) of the 2011 NFL draft and signed a four-year, $5.2 million contract. New Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden instituted a west coast-style offensive scheme to help maximize Dalton's talents, and he and rookie receiver A.J. Green, the Bengals first round selection from the University of Georgia, have become a prolific quarterback/receiver combination.

Due to Dalton's strong performance and the Cincinnati Bengals' unexpected improved win-loss record, some believe Andy Dalton is a legitimate rookie of the year contender over first overall pick Cam Newton of Auburn University, who was drafted by the Carolina Panthers.
